Laboratory Final Research Symposium Schedule - Spring 2019

Your last research symposium will be during finals, between Wednesday, May 1 and Wednesday, May 8.

Note that many sections will have a combined symposium running in both Cox 102 or Cox 110.
Students should plan to observe ALL posters in both lab rooms.

Please check the UM Finals Schedule to be sure you have no conflicts.

Your poster symposium will be set up in the lab room in which your lab usually meets--Cox 102 or 110.
Arrive promptly! You will have only about 10 minutes to set up.
Symposium time is limited because of the way the Registrar has designed the finals schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What if I have more than one final exam along with my lab symposium on the same day?
    • CHECK THE UM FINAL EXAM SCHEDULE NOW.
      • If you have any schedule conflicts, or if you are scheduled for three exams in a single day, please let your instructor know immediately.
      • Because your lab final is a team presentation, not an exam, it is not possible for us to change the time of your presentation. To avoid taking more than two exams in one day, you will need the permission of one of the other instructors giving you an exam on the same day as our symposium.
      • UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI FINAL EXAM POLICIES.

  • What if I miss my final research symposium?
There are NO make up research symposia. Attendance is mandatory for all team members.

      • If you miss your symposium and
        • have an excused absence and
        • have a passing grade at finals time
        • notify your lab instructor in writing/email within 24 hours of missing the exam, then
....you will be given an "I" (Incomplete) for the course and have one academic year to make up the missed material. (Scheduling the make up with your TA will be YOUR responsibility.)

      • If you miss your final symposium and
        • fail to notify your lab instructor in writing/email within 24 hours
        • have a passing OR failing grade at finals time
...you will receive the grade you are currently getting, based on your total, with the lab final symposium counting as a ZERO.

BOTTOM LINE: DO NOT MISS YOUR FINAL RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM. YOUR TEAM IS COUNTING ON YOU.
