Joseph Fabal
Hello! I am Joseph Fabal and I am 12 years old. I attend Norland
Middle School Center for the Arts and I am in the drama program. I love to
act but that is not what I want to do in life. I want to become commander
of a space shuttle mission. In order to become a commander/pilot you must
put in 1000 hours of flying time and must have a degree in the following:
engineering, biology, etc. Basically that is why I am here, for biology.
Since my name means to "add one" I will add one more extra effort to
complete my dream. Even though NASA accepts 20 people every two years, it
will be difficult, but I plan to achieve it. Unfortunatetly I will have to
go Colorado Springs, an Air Force college, to learn about flying and to
get my time in. If I go, I will want to become something like a Top Gun
pilot with my nickname "Bubba." My mom named me. It was the only way I
could go. Even though my dreams are high, I will acheive them. I will go
into space.
Nature
I am Nature
I am the Everglades
Plentiful years ago
Now the appearance of man
Has nearly condemned me to extinction
My blood is wearing thin
It can't move on its own
Man has destroyed
Has destroyed me
Yes, I am old
But the spirits of life with in me keep me alive
So I must withstand the terrible wrath of man
So that the spirits with in me will live on and proceed in happiness
Protected by law, yes
Greedy, mean humans, no
Anything for a new factory
"Just for fun," I heard the humans, "One tree wonÕt hurt."
That isn't true
What if every human said that?
Now I am almost gone
Most of my spirits are extinct
All because of man
If this doesn't stop
I will become exinct
And its all because of man
I will live
I will live on
So I may show my forgotten beauty to the young
It is a shame
It is a shame that the the people of the new generation
Has to clean up the mess of the past generations
