BGSO Positions and Duties


President:
Leads BGSO meetings (as needed)
Attends faculty meetings (monthly)
Attend new student orientation, present funding opportunities (annually)

Vice President:
Send out new student guides
Set up a meet and greet-type event at beginning of year
Coordinates TA exam proctoring (each semester)
Take on any responsibilities of president if unable to fulfill

Secretary:
Keep notes during meetings
Email minutes of meetings to Biograd

GSA representative:
Attend senator retreat in the fall (optional)
Attend GSA meetings (every other week)
Report information that affects graduate students

DVP Committee:
Coordinate nominations, election of DVP for the coming year
Assist with DVP visit

GAAC:
Review graduate student applications
Sit in and vote during 2-3 meetings with committee

Friday Seminars:
Plan and schedule Friday seminars (according to guidelines)
Post flyers about upcoming seminars; send email reminders (weekly)

Monday Seminars:
Coordinate lunches with Monday seminar speaker and graduate students
Send reminders, collect RSVPs, order food, coordinate with faculty in charge

Webmaster:
Run and update BGSO website

Computer room:
Responsible for minimal upkeep of gradlab computers
Make sure stats programs up to date, clean off unnecessary files and programs (monthly)

Good News Liaison:
Announce general departmental/lab good news before Monday Seminar

Bad News Liaison:
Announce general departmental/lab bad news (in a comrodery way) during Friday Seminar

Search Committee Representatives:
When an active search is underway, serve as grad student vote on search committee (nominated by faculty)
